CREATURES - I LUCIFER (Cal, USA)

CREATURES - I LUCIFER (Cal, USA)

In the fall of 2007, five friends came together to play metallic hardcore in vein of Slayer, Ringworm, and Hatebreed: Creatures was born. The band wrote an incredible demo and played shows non-stop through out Southern California and made sure no warehouse, garage, or venue was safe from their ferocious live performance. Locals wanted more, and they got it when Creatures dropped their debut s/t 7" at Sound and Fury 2008; playing an explosive opening set that blew everyone out of the water (and some out of conciousness). Creatures made their mark on the masses. In winter of 2008, Creatures teamed up with So-Cal locals, Downpresser, to release a split for So-Cal based label, Fineprint Records, followed by a winter tour to support their efforts. Creatures' debut full length, "I, Lucifer" focuses on the band's metal roots and pushes their sound further to the limit. Face melting solos, heavy-pulvurizing riffs, and extreme speed is sure to provide something for everyone. With lyrics of depression, anger, and rage, this album is sure to keep your head banging.

MERAUDER - GOD IS I (2009) Brooklyn, NY

MERAUDER - GOD IS I (2009) Brooklyn, NY

The newest release from the brooklyn master killers! Should I
say more? As the review goes....
Beaten up but never beaten down, God is I pushes MERAUDER to the forefront of modern metal alongside heavyweights Lamb of God, Hatebreed and Shadows Fall. A true testament to the “never say die” New York City sensibility, God is I carves a new path for MERAUDER in 2009, demanding redemption once and for all for metalcore’s unsung pioneers.

NO TURNING BACK - STRONGER (Netherlands)

NO TURNING BACK - STRONGER (Netherlands)

In this day and age where hardcore bands come and go with the speed of light NO TURNING BACK are holding true to what they originally set out to do and they're not planning on giving up, ever.
Starting out in 1997 as 16-year olds in the barren south-eastern parts of The Netherlands, music was their only means of venting their anger and frustration of not fitting in, in a world that seemed sick and cold to the bone. Since those days the band has come a long way. Driven by a merciless give-all-take-all attitude, No Turning Back have steadily been building an impressive career touring worldwide and became a household name in hardcore music, with an incredible back catalogue of five full length records, three MCDs, two split 7''EPs and a 7'' EP. Leaning on the original NYHC sounds No Turning Back has evolved and developed their own signature grooves, fast breaks and massive sing along anthems. The sound that moves any crowd into a swirling mass including circle-pits, tons of stage dives and huge sing alongs. Hardcore the way it should be.

MORTAL FEAR - 2 SONGS (Manila, Philippines)

MORTAL FEAR - 2 SONGS (Manila, Philippines)
Mortalfear initiated their collaboration in the summer of 2000. As the creativity came together and the musicianship improved, the band's dedication increased after recording the song Emotions Are Dead at the Earbender studio. Mortalfear explored fresh territories and began writing more songs. Everything became much heavier. Then came a few line-up changes that led to an even greater extension of heavier musical possibilities. Now, after several successful gigs that have taken the band virtually everywhere, Mortalfear continues to spread their sound of Melodic Death Metal, bringing their breakdowns to the brink, structuring songs with melodic slants and inciting moshy death metal, and pushing the traditional lyrical flow to a new level of brutality,

ASSALT 43 - HELLCORE EP (Barcelona, Spain)

ASSALT 43 - HELLCORE EP (Barcelona, Spain)

Just got this in my mail recently, awesome brutal hardcore double bass asskickin from the shores of spain.
Heres a short bio, taken from thier myspace...awesome band, check em out!!! reeezzzpect!
Formed as Vizio 69 between the end of 2004 and dawn of 2005 in Esplugues del Llobregat, Barcelona. The original members were Josep, Daniel, Laura, Albert and Alex. Unfortunately, few months later the lead guitarist Alex left the band. Immediately was replaced by Xavi, taking the composition role. Before record any demo they changed their name to Assalt 43, as a tribute to victims of one of biggest battles in the WWII and the entire human history: the Stalingrad battle in 1943. Although the former and present band members are and always have been against any form of fascism, at the same time they never stood for any communism ideologies, maybe as the name could suggest.

CASTING CURSES - 2 SONGS FROM THEIR HEARTIFICIAL EP (NY, USA)

CASTING CURSES - 2 SONGS FROM THEIR HEARTIFICIAL EP (NY, USA)

Heartificial is a two-song EP from Upstate New York's Casting Curses. This five-piece hardcore outfit delivers an impact statement in just two songs, something that is rather impressive. “Hey Disbeliever” leads it off and brings to mind modern hardcore bands such as Have Heart. They mix the aggression of hardcore with a bit of melody, resulting in an enjoyable experience. The vocals remind me a bit of Zach de la Rocha's days in Inside Out at points too, which is cool. “Change the Lights” is the second track and it is ten times better than the preceding number. The opening riff kills; it's got a definite Verse vibe going on; and the sing-along at the end of the song is spot on. This two-song EP is way too short and has me itching for more. Casting Curses is a band for anyone that has a collection with records from Rivalry, Bridge Nine, and New Age.

KNOW THE SCORE - 2 ALBUMS (Florida/ Ohio, USA)

KNOW THE SCORE - 2 ALBUMS (Florida/ Ohio, USA)

ALL TIME LOW
ALL GUTS NO GLORY
Know The Score was initiated through the aggravations of day-to-day stress and a common lack of resentment within the current hardcore scene. The motivations behind KTS are made apparent through their cut and dry lyrics that recite frustration and disgust for everything around them. Blunt lyrics combined with short blasts and mid tempo stomps serve as the blue print for the bands stylized brand of core. Other elements of Cleveland hardcore and classic thrash metal can be found peppered throughout the mix. The end result is a wave of short violent anthems that bridge anger and honesty to a new low..
For diehard fans (like me) of ONE LIFE CREW, PITBOSS2K and CLEVE-O HARDCORE, this should also be on your top list!

CRUEL HAND - PRYING EYES (Maine, USA)

CRUEL HAND - PRYING EYES (Maine, USA)

Cruel Hand is a hardcore band from Portland, Maine drawing influences from the Cro-Mags, early Metallica, and Madball. Their debut album, Without a Pulse, was released in 2007 on 6131 Records. They played shows around the U.S. with Trash Talk, The Mongoloids, and more, hitting the United States three times and undertaking a full European tour. Next they signed to Bridge 9 Records, and in 2008 released the Prying Eyes CD/LP, described on the Bridge 9 web site as “one of the hardest records of 2008, just as full of catchy metallic riffage as it is mosh parts.”
Also one of my fave bands today..Still blowin on my speakers for 2 months now, check em out!

A FADED GLORY-MISSING BEGINNING (Milan, Italy)

A FADED GLORY-MISSING BEGINNING (Milan, Italy)

Anger, power, feeling, passion: A Faded Glory is a real novelty in the Italian hardcore panorama.
The band was born in 2003 with Simo on guitar and vocals, Roby on bass and Alby on drums with the name True Insanity, but the band felt the lack of a solo voice that gives more opportunity to focus Simo on the song writing. So the line-up completed with Gianluca's arrival on the vocals in June 2008.
Since then, the band started again from scratch and soon found its shape, quickly creating brand new songs with the only intention to let free rein to their love for the music and the hardcore attitude.
Heavy and fast riffs, furious rythms glow with angry and suffering melodies. That is what characterizes the sound of the band, all mixed up with personal and introspective lyrics, telling about desire of ransom but also recognition of their guilties aknowledging human mistakes done by the today's society.
Hailing his roots in Cavite, Gian happens to be a Filipino also, and is very much eager to tour our shores.
Cant wait to see these guys play here, Get in touch with them

One of SAN PABLO LAGUNA's hardcore unit finally released their much awaited demo. 5 songs of pissed off vocals punishing hardcore, guaranteed to make the pit sick! lyrically positive, less on the "tough guy persona" which was normally associated to the laguna scene which is actually a breath of fresh air both musically and lyrically. BLACKENED - THIS MEANS WAR (NEW HAVEN, Connecticut )

BLACKENED - THIS MEANS WAR (NEW HAVEN, Connecticut)

BLACKENED seemed to have come out of nowhere, but the truth is that every member of the band has been involved in the independent music community for the last decade and a half. The all-star lineup boasts current and former members of the juggernaut that is HATEBREED (Bassist Chris Beattie and original drummer and founding member Dave Russo) as well as current Connecticut contenders and alum alike, including vocalist Jay Reason (THE DISTANCE) guitarists Chris Legg (FASTBREAK) and Wayne Lozinak (HATEBREED, TWO BY FOUR, YOUTHFUL OFFENDERS). Founded on the terms of combining the roots of traditional hardcore with the sheer brutalness of metal, BLACKENED is quite simply a wrecking ball that is stopping at nothing in its path.

SMOKE AND MIRRORS - FLASH THUNDER (Erie, PA)

SMOKE AND MIRRORS - FLASH THUNDER (Erie, PA)

"Erie hardcore. Ninety-nine out of a hundred of you instantly thought of either Brother's Keeper or xDisciplex AD. While these two groups have since fallen by the wayside, there is still life in the ol' Lake Effect scene. Groups like Jesus Wept, War of Ages, Hank Jones, and Taste the Steel have all made names for themselves and their city in their respective niches of hardcore. Joining them is Erie's latest, Smoke & Mirrors. Comprised of former members of Brother's Keeper, Problem Solver Revolver, Shockwave, and Seven Stitches, Smoke & Mirrors' sound is rooted deeply in the backpack moshing era of the mid-90's. Flash Thunder is a six-song self-released EP (basically a demo) that combines the worlds of 90's metallic hardcore with dashes of post-hardcore and even some of the sing-along craze of the current youth-crew world'

LIVING HELL - THE LOST AND THE DAMMED (Boston/Connecticut, US)

LIVING HELL - THE LOST AND THE DAMMED 2007

‘The Lost and the Damned’ is a metal influenced hardcore album full with anger, hate and rage. Take the typical Clevo Hardcore sound from Integrity and Ringworm and mix it with New York Hardcore. Hard hitting for example is “End of Eternity” and you want to kill people on the monstrous end of “Fall from Grace”. Just like good old Integrity Boston/Connecticut’s Living Hell is shifting a huge pile of solos and melodic guitar parts into their sound (“Parable of a Madman” & “Malleus Dei”)
For fans of INTEGRITY like me, this band is for you! Check em out.

HARM'S WAY - REALITY APPROACHES (Chicago, IL)

HARM'S WAY - REALITY APPROACHES (Chicago, IL)

"Take the ultra-violence of A Clockwork Orange, mixed with the scathing, nihilistic and punishing sounds of Carcass and you'll start to get the idea of what Harms Way is trying to achieve. Continuing the mayhem that began with their first two independent releases, "Reality Approaches" is chaos incarnate played along a soundtrack of chainsaw guitars and machine gun drums. It's a raw, primal and devastating outlook on life coupled with an apocalyptic and furious sound that will leave the listener completely unsettled."

And these guys will give your holy terror bands a run for their money as well,
one of my fave bands today!

HARM'S WAY - IMPRISONED (Chicago, IL)

HARM'S WAY - IMPRISONED (Chicago, IL)

Harms Way came from disfunction. Our only escape was Bo's creative imagination. Caution grew up tough on the streets of Garden Grove trying to survive, but that wasn't Caution. Chris loves all the people, he just hates the evil we can do. 80's metal and 90's emotion groomed us to become a singer and song writer in the 2000's. Hofacker loves the way it feels when its right.

SWAMP THING - IN SHAME (Virginia , USA)

SWAMP THING - IN SHAME (Virginia , USA)

Swamp Thing share a lot of characteristics with fellow contemporary Richmond, VA band Down to Nothing and Maine’s Outbreak. They have the affinity of `80s hardcore that Down to Nothing possesses and have the raspy vocals and the shorter, faster-paced songs Outbreak maintains. This is a simple mixture that pays off well in 13 short, aggressive and lively hardcore tunes. The songs are actually very short. Not like Infest short but, laconic nonetheless. The album clocks in at under 20 minutes, with its longest song being a whopping two minutes and 21 seconds. Though, as stated, the brief song structure matches the style swimmingly.

DIE MY WILL - DISCOGRAPHY (Connecticut, USA)

DIE MY WILL - DISCOGRAPHY (Connecticut, USA)

During the mid and late 90's DIE MY WILL was one one Connecticut's heaviest band which I considered to be one the band that spawned the holy terror genre alongside Integrity, This is also one of the best sellers in the CrossXBlood era. As one of the review goes ..."Die My Will took things to the next level with the release of their And Still We Destroy full length on the previously-mentioned Pin Drop Records. It was on this release that Die My Will attained legendary status in my mind. Pummeling listeners with the transitions between caveman-esque chug parts and intricate, yet disturbingly eerie acoustic pieces, the band set the standard for heavy in their era. As with any great band from their era, the band never received a fraction of the credit in which was due. Even if the band put the recordings out a decade later in which they did (aka now), they would still reign as the heaviest songs known to man. I know that in a previous post I had already labeled Disembodied as the heaviest band ever, but the point is that Die My Will is every bit as legendary as Disembodied amongst this genre; they just never received the credit that was due. I'm hoping that this post will start to reverse this trend if only in the minds of the couple hundred people who read this thing. "
