CHOKEHOLD - CONTENT WITH DYING (Canada)

Chokehold were a vegan straight edge hardcore/punk band hailing from Hamilton, Ontario in Canada. They first formed in 1990, releasing the "More Than Ever" demo tape in 1991. This was quickly followed in 1992 by a split EP with Crisis of Faith and the Life Goes On EP that same year. The band was soon renowned as one of the heaviest in hardcore, drawing ire from some purists for incorporating metall riffage into their sound. Their rise in popularity parallelled that of other vegan straight edge bands such as Earth Crisis and hardline bands like Vegan Reich and Raid

FACE VALUE - KICK IT OVER (Cleveland, USA)

FACE VALUE - KICK IT OVER (Cleveland, USA)

FACE VALUE was formed in early 1989 from the ashes of goofy punk/crossover band The Bagmen, who formed in late 1987. After singer Don Foose (currently in Run Devil Run) left to sing for longtime punk scenester and all-around good guy Chris Andrew’s SPUDMONSTERS, Bagmen drummer Scott Doland recruited local HC scenester Tony Erba, who had just seen his previous band LEK fizzle out. Erba joined, changed the name from ’the Bagmen’ to Scott Doland’s suggestion of ’Face Value’ and guitarist ’Downtown’ Brown joined as well and the band remade itself into a posi-HC band inspired by Erba’s love of fast, youthful HC ala 7 Seconds, Negative Approach, Minor Threat,Straight Ahead,Agnostic Front and Uniform Choice and Scott’s faves Damage,COC,Ramones,Exploited etc. The band recorded a demo featuring some reworked Bagmen tunes and a few new tracks. Soon the band began playing local and out of state shows with False Hope, Outface, Confront and Integrity, the second wave of HC bands from Cleveland. A 7" was released on the California label Conversion Records entitled "Coming Of Age" in March 1990
