Hailing from the UK, Rot in Hell plays metallic hardcore. Not the type that your 13-year-old cousin in the girls' jeans thinks he listens to, rather the type inspired by Integrity. Not only is Rot in Hell clearly influenced by the legendary Cleveland band, but is also a member of the Holy Terror ring of bands, which is of course, headed by Integrity. That said, you should know what you’re getting here: lots of fast crunchy riffs paired with slower creepy parts and the occasional guitar solo. The vocals are a shriek-type of yell and the band is consistently dirty and fierce.

Formed in '04, they started out as a seven man team but recently trimmed down their roster to five, bringing out a more focused sound.They released their debut album"Moment Of Truth" in '07, toured the states numerous times including Canada sharing stages with the likes of Madball, Terror, Bleeding Through and much more. Thick as Blood are in no way an original band; their songwriting and style of music has been done many times before. Embrace, like many other hardcore releases, is also overloaded with breakdowns around every corner. In the fall of 2007, five friends came together to play metallic hardcore in vein of Slayer, Ringworm, and Hatebreed: Creatures was born. The band wrote an incredible demo and played shows non-stop through out Southern California and made sure no warehouse, garage, or venue was safe from their ferocious live performance. Locals wanted more, and they got it when Creatures dropped their debut s/t 7" at Sound and Fury 2008; playing an explosive opening set that blew everyone out of the water (and some out of conciousness). Creatures made their mark on the masses. In winter of 2008, Creatures teamed up with So-Cal locals, Downpresser, to release a split for So-Cal based label, Fineprint Records, followed by a winter tour to support their efforts. Creatures' debut full length, "I, Lucifer" focuses on the band's metal roots and pushes their sound further to the limit. Just got this in my mail recently, awesome brutal hardcore double bass asskickin from the shores of spain.

Formed as Vizio 69 between the end of 2004 and dawn of 2005 in Esplugues del Llobregat, Barcelona. The original members were Josep, Daniel, Laura, Albert and Alex. Unfortunately, few months later the lead guitarist Alex left the band. Immediately was replaced by Xavi, taking the composition role. Before record any demo they changed their name to Assalt 43, as a tribute to victims of one of biggest battles in the WWII and the entire human history: the Stalingrad battle in 1943. Although the former and present band members are and always have been against any form of fascism, at the same time they never stood for any communism ideologies, maybe as the name could suggest.

Heartificial is a two-song EP from Upstate New York's Casting Curses. This five-piece hardcore outfit delivers an impact statement in just two songs, something that is rather impressive. “Hey Disbeliever” leads it off and brings to mind modern hardcore bands such as Have Heart. They mix the aggression of hardcore with a bit of melody, resulting in an enjoyable experience. The vocals remind me a bit of Zach de la Rocha's days in Inside Out at points too, which is cool. “Change the Lights” is the second track and it is ten times better than the preceding number. The opening riff kills; it's got a definite Verse vibe going on; and the sing-along at the end of the song is spot on. This two-song EP is way too short and has me itching for more. Casting Curses is a band for anyone that has a collection with records from Rivalry, Bridge Nine, and New Age.

Cruel Hand is a hardcore band from Portland, Maine drawing influences from the Cro-Mags, early Metallica, and Madball. Their debut album, Without a Pulse, was released in 2007 on 6131 Records. They played shows around the U.S. with Trash Talk, The Mongoloids, and more, hitting the United States three times and undertaking a full European tour. Next they signed to Bridge 9 Records, and in 2008 released the Prying Eyes CD/LP, described on the Bridge 9 web site as “one of the hardest records of 2008, just as full of catchy metallic riffage as it is mosh parts.”

Anger, power, feeling, passion: A Faded Glory is a real novelty in the Italian hardcore panorama.

The band was born in 2003 with Simo on guitar and vocals, Roby on bass and Alby on drums with the name True Insanity, but the band felt the lack of a solo voice that gives more opportunity to focus Simo on the song writing. So the line-up completed with Gianluca's arrival on the vocals in June 2008.

Since then, the band started again from scratch and soon found its shape, quickly creating brand new songs with the only intention to let free rein to their love for the music and the hardcore attitude.

Heavy and fast riffs, furious rythms glow with angry and suffering melodies. That is what characterizes the sound of the band, all mixed up with personal and introspective lyrics, telling about desire of ransom but also recognition of their guilties aknowledging human mistakes done by the today's society.

Hailing his roots in Cavite, Gian happens to be a Filipino also, and is very much eager to tour our shores.

Swamp Thing share a lot of characteristics with fellow contemporary Richmond, VA band Down to Nothing and Maine’s Outbreak. They have the affinity of `80s hardcore that Down to Nothing possesses and have the raspy vocals and the shorter, faster-paced songs Outbreak maintains. This is a simple mixture that pays off well in 13 short, aggressive and lively hardcore tunes. The songs are actually very short. Not like Infest short but, laconic nonetheless. The album clocks in at under 20 minutes, with its longest song being a whopping two minutes and 21 seconds. Though, as stated, the brief song structure matches the style swimmingly.

During the mid and late 90's DIE MY WILL was one one Connecticut's heaviest band which I considered to be one the band that spawned the holy terror genre alongside Integrity, This is also one of the best sellers in the CrossXBlood era. As one of the review goes ..."Die My Will took things to the next level with the release of their And Still We Destroy full length on the previously-mentioned Pin Drop Records. It was on this release that Die My Will attained legendary status in my mind. Pummeling listeners with the transitions between caveman-esque chug parts and intricate, yet disturbingly eerie acoustic pieces, the band set the standard for heavy in their era. As with any great band from their era, the band never received a fraction of the credit in which was due. Even if the band put the recordings out a decade later in which they did (aka now), they would still reign as the heaviest songs known to man. I know that in a previous post I had already labeled Disembodied as the heaviest band ever, but the point is that Die My Will is every bit as legendary as Disembodied amongst this genre; they just never received the credit that was due. I'm hoping that this post will start to reverse this trend if only in the minds of the couple hundred people who read this thing. "

Kingdom formed in summer of 2006 with the intent of making pissed off and socially relevant vegan straight edge hardcore. In a scene where bands trade their ideals for merch sales and kids trade their rage for a pair of sneaks, Kingdom strives to maintain the ideas and ethics that lay- however buried- at the foundation of this movement. A few months after forming, they released a 6 song demo/EP on Goodbye Blue Skies records, followed by a 4 song 7" on New Age Records in spring of 2008. Before signing to Eulogy Recordings, Kingdom did 6 US tours (self booked) in their vegetable oil powered bus, and one European tour. "The Rage That Guides" is Kingdom's first full length, featuring 10 songs drawing influence from bands like Buried Alive, Warzone, and Hatebreed, and taking outside inspiration from Nile to Led Zeppelin. "The Rage That Guides" is diverse but still uncompromisingly hardcore. Lyrically taking on issues both political and personal, this record contrasts feelings of hopelessness, suffering, and despair with those of empowerment, hope, and rage. "Real Crime" addresses urban poverty and police violence, "Pythoness" takes on societal double standards and sexual politics, "33/45" is a punk rock anthem for those who choose to live forever out of step. Seething and spiteful, "The Rage That Guides" is a dose of broken glass for a spoon-fed scene.

Founded by Myke Rivera (Aka Puerto Rican Myke) on the mean streets of the South Bronx, NYC in the Fall of 1994. District 9 formed from the ashes of Myke’s previous metal tinged hardcore band Close Call. One of the key bands in the second coming of New York Hardcore that exploded onto the scene as part of Kevin Gill’s Striving For Togetherness Records (SFT) family of super talented bands. "This Is Boston, Not L.A." spotlights seven Boston punk bands of the late '70s and early '80s: Jerry's Kids, Gang Green, The F.U.'s, The Freeze, The Proletariat, Decadence, and The Groinoids. While The Proletariat — a very political band with Marxist/socialist leanings — is heavily influenced by British punk, most of the other bands have more in common with L.A. residents like Black Flag and Circle Jerks. But whoever their influences are, all of these bands have very substantial, hard-hitting lyrics — the subject matter ranges from alcoholism on The Freeze's "It's Only Alcohol" and war on Gang Green's "Kill a Commie" to the excesses of slam dancing on Decadence's "Slam." "This Is Boston, Not L.A." isn't the last word on Boston's late '70s/early '80s punk scene, but it paints an impressive picture of the Beantown punks who were active during that era.

By 1996 they released "Until the End", their second full length album, which featured another 7Seconds cover, "Young Till I Die". By this stage they had a new drummer,Jason hamacher, who was also a member of the D.C. spazzcore band Frodus. This album saw the refinement of the bands old school revival sound, in that it saw them move towards a more stripped down and melodic style. Ben Chused then left the band and began playing drums in the Boston hardcore band, TEN YARD FIGHT. He was replaced with Graham Land who had played guitar in Worlds Collide and founded BETTER THAN A THOUSAND with Ken Olden and RAY CAPPO , the singer of YOUTH OF TODAY. The band then began their first major tour in the United States, headlining with TEN YARD FIGTH , as well as their second major tour of Europe with DAMNATION AD.

Though the band featured several members of non-caucasian backgrounds through its history, and Raybeez sang lyrics urging racial unity and spoke out strongly against anything that divided the youth of America against itself, their shows were often marred by violence. For this reason, Raybeez rarely performed from the stage. He sang out in the crowd. Often huddling with a multitude to shout the lyrics, he used it as an opportunity to stop fights before security could respond. This tactic often cooled tempers more quickly than stopping the show might have and prevented fans from being escorted out of the show. His position in the crowds rather than elevated on a stage also endeared him to fans in a way few other performers in the genre have ever achieved. The music on this album was what New York hardcore (and hardcore in general) became known for: short, fast songs with shouted socio-political lyrics, heavy but basic guitar riffs, gang chants, and attitude. The title track became a slogan for hardcore youth, and one of the most covered tracks by other New York hardcore bands. Other songs such as "Crazy But Not Insane" and "As One" had a similar impact.

Tully one the greatest compilations ever to put out on a cd, For 12 years its still one of my top playlist. ANTI MATTER was a fanzine published by Norman Brannon (former guitarist for Resurrection, 108, Shelter, Texas Is The Reason, and New End Original) from his New York City apartment. The zine featured interviews with many hardcore, punk, and indie bands that read more like conversations with friends rather than your run-of-the-mill interviews. One of the best zines ever printed. Farside's Moral Straightjacket was just released on Monroe Doctrine but until MD, the only place to find this amazing song was on this comp. Sense Field's Shady Day is a great song from a great band, Quicksand is incredible, the Civ song is a classic, plus Chamberlin's best song as well as songs by Lifetime and Snapcase. If there is one comp that is a must have for any punk collection, this is it.

Crossed the line was formed in winter 2006. After the end of bands like Retaliate and Die... My Demon some of the members decided to put their heads together and start with a new project. C.T.L. was born. After a few rehearsals they went to studio CCR to record 2 promo tracks, Stories of the past & Dying inside. The songs where released on a promo cd.C.T.L. plays a NYHC style with some metal influences. Fans of bands like Madball, Blood for blood, Everybody gets hurt, Terror, etc. will definitely like this one.The band started playing shows in march 2007. From that moment they played a lot of shows all over europe. in March 2008 C.T.L. went back to the studio to record some new tracks, after a little while the band released their debut 6 track MCD called "Through the dark of futures past".
And Ive heard theres some talks of this band touring here in our shores so keep bugging them on thier myspace and lets hope for the possibility of a Philippine tour.

Acme (from Bremen, Germany) were among the most influential Hardcore bands of the 1990’s. Edison released their album “to reduce the choir to one soloist” in 1996, but the recordings date back to 1993/1994, these nine tracks comprise the entirety of Acme’s recorded career (one 7”, three compilation tracks, one demo). Presumably the band take their musical cues from early 90’s Hardcore bands such as Born Against and ‘Protestant’-era Rorschach, but this is occluded so thoroughly by a dense (funeral) fog of extreme metal, sludge and grind that their original Hardcore influences are difficult to pinpoint.
